What are we raising money for?
The Clinton Community Hall was built in the 1960s, and still has many of the original elements from when it was first built. This includes the original single-paned windows.
ENERGY-EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS
Over the past year, we have been working to update and modernize many of the systems that power the Hall. Using more than $60,000 in grant funding we have so far been able to:
Install a heat pump heating/cooling system, giving us more energy-efficient heat and for the first time ever, air conditioning capabilities for hot summer days.
Add a solar system (to be installed in April), allowing us to produce 100 percent of the electricity needed to power the Hall — plus a battery backup system that will help run the Hall during power outages.
Install an electric induction stove for cleaning cooking.
NEXT STEPS
new windows and doors
Now we turn our attention to improving the efficiency of the Hall's building envelope.
With 28 single-paned windows wrapping around four walls, we lose a lot of heat. We have worked with energy-efficiency experts to develop a plan that calls for better-insulated windows and doors. Newer double-paned windows will also be safer in the event of breakage, and should cut down on sound coming from outside. We expect to make progress on this in waves, as funding becomes available.
This event is our official community fundraising kickoff. We want to share improvements already made to the Hall, and ask our community to donate funds towards the next steps of our Energize The Hall campaign.
