2023 Volunteer of the Year — Joan Guernsey

Occasionally, we recognize volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their contributions to the Clinton Community Hall. This year we want to acknowledge all that Joanne Guernsey has done to make the Hall and the Clinton community a more beautiful place.

Joanne has been key in organizing the South Whidbey Garden Club’s assistance in maintaining and improving the community hall grounds and landscaping. She shows up for every landscaping work party and also works on the grounds by herself when she sees something that needs to be done.

The garden club has adopted the rain garden area at the Hall, and Joanne is deeply involved in the care and maintenance of the rain garden. She also regularly shares her time and gardening knowledge for all areas of the Hall landscaping.

Joanne has been a Whidbey Island resident for 39 years. She owned a house cleaning business for 36 years, and although she has retired from that, she has not stopped working ceaselessly to make her community a better place. She is very active in her church, and is active in numerous local organizations. She is currently vice president of the South Whidbey Garden Club.

Thank you Joanne for showing up and for your many, many contributions to keeping the Hall grounds in top shape!
