2025 Volunteer of the Year: Sue Mills

Most of you need no introduction to former board member Sue Mills, who retired from the board in 2025. While we miss Sue’s presence on the board, we continue to benefit from the generous gift of her time & expertise in making many of our Hall events possible.

Sue continues to manage our two craft markets — the Holiday Market in December each year, and the Summer Market each June — and is also a key volunteer planning our annual Mayfest celebration.

Sue puts in countless volunteer hours making sure these Hall-sponsored events run smoothly. Her management & planning skills, and focus on details, are a key reason these events have become so successful and enjoyed by our community.

We are happy to honor Sue’s further contribution to the Clinton Community Hall by making her our 2025 Volunteer of the Year, presented at our annual membership meeting in January 2026.

A letter from Sue

After the meeting, Sue wrote to share the following with our members:

“During the Clinton Community Hall Board Annual Member meeting in January, I was honored as ‘Volunteer of the Year for 2025.’ A summary of accomplishments during my tenure from January 2019 to June 2025 was presented. I was humbled by the presentation and am truly grateful for the award. What was not said is that I could not have accomplished any of those events or improvements without the support of an amazing group of people – my fellow board members.

“Through the pandemic years and all we accomplished — new roof, interior and exterior paint, bathroom and kitchen upgrades, landscape cleanup, and parking lot events for families at Halloween and Easter, as well as a review of bylaws and policies, I was very fortunate to have Jim Swan, Mike Gerhardt, Kathy Craven, Sheri Gerhard, and Bob Gerhard making things happen with their dedicated time and energy. Barb Doutt joined us in 2024 as the work continued. A remodel of the main hall, installation of a solar energy system, heat pump heating/cooling, heat pump water heater and new blinds.

“This amazing facility cannot endure and serve our community without a dedicated group of volunteers serving on the Board. Jill Brewster, Steve Franks and Scott Amick joined the board near my leaving and continue the work. We are fortunate to have an amazing and supportive community to serve which has made the work very rewarding. Please accept my heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who serve on the Board and to our members and the community we serve.

“In gratitude, Sue Mills”

When you see Sue around town, be sure to pass along appreciation for her support of the Hall and of Clinton.
